Overview:
Located on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka, on the north side of the Indian Ocean, it is the main port of southern Sri Lanka. The port is about 130km away from Colombo Airport .
The port has a tropical monsoon climate with westerly winds prevailing. The annual average temperature is 18~23℃. The annual average rainfall is about 2000mm. Average tide height: high tide 0.6m, low tide 0.1m.
There are 3 main berths in the port area, with a coastline of 427m and a maximum water depth of 9m. Loading and unloading equipment includes various shore cranes and tugs. The terminal is reliable for 2 10,000-ton ships. The warehouse has a capacity of 12,000 tons and there are more than 10 barges , each about 150 tons. The water depth of the large ship anchorage reaches 16.5m. The main export goods are coconut oil and rubber, and the main imported goods are rice, flour and gypsum.
