Overview:
Santiago (Santiago, CL), Santiago de Chile (Spanish: Santiago de Chile), Chile's capital and largest city, South America's fifth largest city. It is located in the middle of the border, on the banks of the Mapocho River, east of the Andes, and about 100 kilometers west of Valparaiso Port. Summer is dry and mild, and winter is cool and rainy and foggy. The sparkling Mapocho River flows slowly from the city. The snow-covered Andes all the year round is like a gleaming silver crown, and the natural landscape adds a moving charm. The area where San Diego is located is not too hot in summer (October to March of the following year). The average temperature in the hottest January is around 20℃; the winter is not too cold, and the coldest July is around 8℃.
Santiago is a city composed of multiple cities and towns. Although they are all under the jurisdiction of the Santiago Metropolitan Region, there is not strictly a unified municipal organization; most of the cities and towns are located in the province of Santiago, the core of which is also called " San Diego". Although Santiago is the capital of Chile, the Chilean Congress is located in the coastal city of Valparaiso, 120 kilometers west of the city. Santiago is the industrial and financial center of Chile. The city contributes 45% of Chile's GDP.
