Overview:
A commercial port on the west coast of the United States. It is located in the south end of Puget Fjord, Washington state, in the northwest of the United States, south of Seattle, about 50 kilometers away. The distance between the port and the outer port is 25 nautical miles longer than that of Seattle.
The internal traffic is roughly the same as Seattle, and it is also one of the West bridgeheads of the North American Continental Bridge. The port area is open to the northwest, stretching out six jetties. In the north of the port area, there are two waterways, heilibus and brere, which go deep into the inland. There are 33 deep-water berths along the jetties and waterways, with a water depth of 9.15-21.34 meters. There are 5 container terminals; Terminal 13 has one berth, 290 meters long and 13.7 meters deep. It was built in October 1989 and rented by Maersk shipping company; There are two berths in terminal 4, with a water depth of 13.7 meters and four 40-50 ton loading and unloading bridges; There are one berth and three general cargo berths in terminal 7, with a total length of 823 meters and a water depth of 13.7 meters. There are three 40-50 ton loading bridges and two multi-purpose cranes.
Through the container terminal, at the top of brere waterway, there are two berths, with a water depth of 14 meters; There are also sea and land container terminals (2 berths) and Alaska ro ro terminals. Since the mid-1980s, container throughput has developed rapidly. At present, we are still expanding the container terminal facilities and the sea rail intermodal transport capacity. It is planned that the container handling capacity will reach 2.8 million TEUs by 2010. There are two grain export terminals with a total grain storage capacity of 7.5 million bushels (about 200000 tons); No. 1 and No. 5 are liquid cargo terminals with four berths with water depth of 10.6 meters, and the capacity of liquid cargo tanks on the terminal is 3.5 million gallons.
