Overview:
The Port of Baltimore (Port of Baltimore, MD) is located in Baltimore, the largest city in Maryland, the United States. The Port of Baltimore is operated by the Maryland Port Authority (MPA) and is a unit of the Maryland Department of Transportation.
Baltimore, the largest city in Maryland, USA, an important seaport city on the Atlantic coast of the United States.
Baltimore is located on the west side of the top of the Chesapeake Bay, only more than 60 kilometers away from Washington, the capital of the United States. The port area is near the mouth of the Patapasco River. There is still a 250-kilometer voyage from here through the bay to the vast Atlantic Ocean, but due to the superior natural conditions near the port, the Chesapeake Bay is wide and the channel is deep, 10,000-ton ocean-going vessels can sail directly into the Baltimore port area. This port belongs to the state of Maryland and has always been an important estuary connecting the Great Lakes, the Central Basin and the Atlantic Ocean in the United States.
In 2006, the Port of Baltimore was renamed Helendrich Bentley when it celebrated the port’s 300th birthday in 2006, when the governor of Maryland, Bob Ehrlich, participated in Helen Dridge after the anniversary of Helen III. Bentley (Helen Delich Bentley) naming.
Current operation
Currently, the port has major roll-on-roll (ro-ro) equipment, as well as bulk facilities, especially steel processing. Most Mercedes-Benz cars imported into the United States are also processed here.
In 2012, the port handled 36.7 million tons of foreign trade (import and export), valued at 53.9 billion U.S. dollars. This is a 2.5% drop in tonnage in 2011. The Port of Baltimore ranks 11th out of 36 US ports that handle foreign tonnage, and 9th in dollar value for cargo handled in 2012.
Baltimore Inner Harbor
Baltimore inner harbor is one of the world’s famous seaports. It is located at the mouth of the PATAPSCO River in the central part of Maryland on the northeastern coast of the United States. It is on the northwest side of the Chesapeake Bay. It is one of the main ports on the Atlantic coast of the United States.
In 1827, the first railroad in the United States, the Baltimore-Ohio Railroad, was laid here, and it became the gateway to the Midwest. The Mount Clare Station, the railway station, was changed to a railway museum to commemorate its location in the northeastern United States. At the mouth of the PATAPSCO River in central MARYLAND, Baltimore can be reached by taxi.
