Overview:
Pakistan's new seaport. Located in the south of the country, the West Branch of the Indus River Delta crosses the downstream of the fitigli River, about 13 nautical miles from Karachi in the northwest. It is the second largest seaport in Pakistan, mainly serving for Karachi steel plant, as well as domestic import and export goods, so as to reduce the pressure on Karachi Port. The ship enters the port from phiti Green River with a channel length of about 16 nautical miles. The average high tide is 3.1m, the low tide is 0.7m, the average high tide is 3.0m, the low tide is 1.4m, and the average sea level is 2.05m. In the southwest monsoon season, only 25000 DWT vessels are allowed to enter the channel, while in other seasons, 50000 DWT vessels are allowed to enter the channel. There are two wharves in the port. The ore and coal wharf is located at the downstream and on the depression by the river. It is 279 meters long and can allow ships with draught of 10-12 meters to dock. There is a long conveyor belt connecting the steel plant behind it. It is a special wharf for steel plants. The general cargo terminal is a long jetty extending to the southwest with a length of 1400 meters. There are seven berths in the southeast. The water depth of the front is 10-11 meters. It is used for general cargo, bulk cargo, container and oil terminals. The port was opened in 1976 with an annual handling capacity of more than 6 million tons.
