Overview:
Port of Madras is an Indian commercial port. The coordinates (80o19'45'e, 13o14'11'n) are located on the southeast coast of the Indian peninsula to the northeast of the bay of Bengal. In the north, it is 324 nautical miles away from visakhapat south port and 775 nautical miles away from Calcutta port. It is 601 nautical miles south to the port of Colombo and 1587 nautical miles east to the port of Singapore. The port area is artificially excavated and extends from northeast to southwest, which can be divided into inner and outer ports. The outer port is surrounded by the East Outer breakwater and the north breakwater and oil tanker breakwater, and ships enter the port from the northeast. There are three deep-water berths in the outer port: one is the North-South jetty to the west of the entrance, and the butterfly shaped oil berth to the west of the North-South jetty, which can accommodate 80000 DWT oil tankers with draft of 14.02 meters; Second, there are iron ore export berths with the same draught on the northern shore, with a loading capacity of 8000 tons per hour; The third is the South Shunan container berth of ore berth, which is 380 meters long and 13 meters deep. It is equipped with two 35 ton loading and unloading bridges, with an area of 18 hectares. The inner port enters from the outer port, and consists of the East, South, West, North four walls and Jawahar port terminal extending further south. There are 18 general cargo, bulk cargo and passenger berths in total; In addition, there are three operating buoy berths in the south of beitu dyke and the west of the entrance and exit, with the water depth of 7.92-10.67m. There are more than 20 berths in Hong Kong, of which oil imports account for about half, and other coal, grain and building materials imports; Export of iron ore, machinery, groceries, etc.
