Overview:
Likasi southeast of the Democratic Republic of Congo city, located on the Katanga province, population 367,000 in 2005.
Likasi has approximately 447,500 people (2012).In the 1990s, the United Nations established a feeding center and a refugee center in and around Likasi to assist refugees in fleeing ethnic violence in Sabah, and its arrival increased the town’s population of 41,000.
Likasi is an industrial center, mainly mining copper and cobalt mines, The national railway system set up a station in Likasi, and the trains were mainly trucks instead of passenger trains, making it a transportation hub for neighboring areas.
